Challenge your Camera #7 Bridges

This week Dr. B has posed the challenge of bridges. I remember posting some bridges earlier, but here goes again!

Arched glass bridge, Kings Park, Perth WA

Standing 52 metres high, the rusted steel structure finish was designed to blend in with the trees in the gardens. It provides a potent reminder of the rusted steel of camps, farms and mines in the Western Australian bush at the time of Federation. Source: Kings Park and Botanic Garden

Macclesfield Bridge

There is a short story about Macclesfield Bridge. In October 1874 a barge containing coffee and nuts exploded under this bridge. The bridge was destroyed and three men were killed, but the iron columns were left intact. The explosion could be heard from a mile away and caused uproar among the animals at the nearby London Zoo. Challenge your Camera: Colour Splash

This week’s challenge by Dr. B is adding a touch of colour to a black and white photo or taking most of the colour away and just adding a splash. What a challenge this turned out to be! It has really tested my brain cells. Anyway I have managed a few with a photo editor that is already embedded in my computer. Photo Scape X. Although I’m still not sure I’ve got it correct.

CFFC: Reed, Read or Red 🌾 📚 🥀

Time for another challenge! There are so many to choose from, thanks to all those bloggers who are happy to host. This one is hosted by Cee Neuner, Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge.

I’ve managed to find something for all three 😁

Reeds

Some of my Reads of this year

I really enjoyed all three of these books and can highly recommend. Invisible Girl is my book for February Book Club, a psychological thriller set in London. Magpie Lane also a psychological thriller this time set in Oxford around the university and lastly The Other Bennet Sister a spin off from Pride and Prejudice – did you ever wonder what happened to Miss Mary Bennet?

Red

Bottoms Up 🍷

Here’s to your good health everyone. Cheers Big Ears and that’s the way it goes Big Nose. Down the Hatch. Chin Chin and Salute to name but a few sayings before we take a drink.

A few from over the years and around the world.

For Becky’s SquareUp. Have a great weekend everyone, don’t drink too much 🤣

Challenge your Camera – Churches ⛪️

This week Dr. B has set the challenge as churches, both inside and out. Photos can also include temples, mosques, cathedrals etc. Captions should be included under each photo with name and place and of course a pingback to Dr. B.

A Gallery of Churches from around the World

St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Hanoi

It’s amazing when you look at all these striking buildings how intricate the detail was. It must have taken years to build some of them. There must have been so much wealth around and all poured into buildings.

Upset on the Golf Course

I saw this little guy on a walk a while ago. At first I thought it was just a tree stump, but up close I knew better. The mother lay dead a few feet away and when I walked nearer a menacing magpie was flappy frantically around his head. I shooed it away and went to pick up little guy, but he flew away and tried to reach a near tree. Walking towards me were a group of golfers and as I was at the edge of the golf course I decided not to risk my head! I always wonder what happened to little guy.

I hope he grew up to be like the featured image.

For Becky’s January SquareUp

Battling beautiful bushy bougainvillea brambly branches

Hubby hard at work trimming branches

This is a job that needs to be done at least four times a year. Beautiful to look at but a pain to maintain! The more you cut the more it grows.

It’s a dog’s life!

A few snaps of my two scallywags who jump up on any chair or sofa they feel is comfortable.

That’s Rufus at the top waiting for snacks, just finished yoga and wondering why there is no space on the sofa.

Then there’s Zac, the laid back one. Likes a read of the paper and is a bit of a poser.

Both are rescue dogs and we don’t know much about their previous lives. Rufus was in a bad way when we first got him and was a skinny little thing. He’s like a little piglet now. Zac has a very naughty side and has to be kept on a lead otherwise he will chase anything with wheels or legs! A couple of years ago he knocked the postman off his bike and we received a very large fine. He’s not aggressive though just extremely playful.

Our sofas are ruined and most of the chairs, but what can you do 🤣

CFFC – Bridges from around the World

My take on bridges for Cee’s challenge on CFFC for this week. They could also work for Dr. B’s Challenge your Camera for this week’s theme of architecture.

Puente de Triana, Seville, Spain
Tilbury Fort, Essex, England
Franjo Tudman Bridge, Dubrovnik, Croatia
Driving over the Queensferry Bridge, Essex, England
