~ Views from the Eurostar – London to Paris ~

I’m joining Dan’s Fun Foto Challenge this week and the theme is views from or in public transport. I took the Eurostar a few years ago to join a friend in Paris for the weekend. It’s the ideal way to travel, avoiding those lengthy queues at the airport and not having to put all your liquids in a tiny bag.

I opted for lunch on board and was happily surprised by the food served and being waited on! It was such a comfortable journey and I would happily do it again.

Seems like I had the train to myself, but it did fill up!

~ Taking it Easy – Perth, February 2025 ~

The Summer school holidays finally came to an end here in Perth. Master Lachie would be starting year 2 and Miss Rosie would be entering kindergarten. Time for new shoes. I took both munchkins to our local shopping centre to have their feet measured up for new shoes. Everything is so sophisticated these days, and feet are measured electronically. Back in the day your foot was put into a wooden contraption with a slide bar.

Rosie was going two and three days a week, so I can still have my days with her.

Larger than life Sylvanian Rabbit

Out shopping for her favourite toys.

We had some extensive tree cutting and bush pruning performed by professionals. Although my dear hubby said he would do it all – eventually – it’s the removal of all the debris that is a problem. Now I have an empty flower bed to replant, which I’ll be getting advice about.

I’m looking forward to discussing ideas with a lady I found locally.

The weather is turning slightly cooler in the mornings and evenings which is a relief. I’ve been able to sit out in the mornings with my coffee. This little guy has been visiting every morning and having a morning feed. Luckily Zac and Rufus didn’t notice.

Hubby and I had a lovely lunch in Fremantle last week. We tried a place that was new to us but I’d heard good reviews. It was such a beautiful day, we managed to get a table outside.

A couple of sculptures caught my eye. The dog is so cute.

Say hello to Dwert (noongar for dingo). Created by sculptor – Martin Jaine.

The above is a life size sculpture of a memorial to the migrant children. Between 1947 and 1953 over 3,000 children (many unaccompanied) from UK and Malta migrated to Western Australia. They went to voluntary and religious organisations. Many of these children we now know were little more than unpaid workers. They suffered untold abuse which has only come to light in the last ten years or so. The children were told they were orphans. Some of them were. Others had mothers who, due to extreme hardship, had no choice but to let them go.

We stopped at a local delicatessen to pick up some goodies and this exotic lady was posing in the middle of the shop.

Please don’t touch. I am very fragile. My name is Caffe’tina. I was made in 12 days. Arrived 8th January 2023. Multicycling in Brazil.
Coffee beans used on me __ kilo ___ grams.

I thought this was so clever and must have taken ages to put together. I wonder what the answers were?

Well that’s February done and dusted already. Have a lovely March everyone.

I’m joining in with a few challenges.

~ Creative Ordinal Numbers – Fun Foto Challenge ~

Dan from No Facilities is now the host of this challenge, and this week the theme is ordinal numbers. I have to plead ignorance on this one! After good old google came to the rescue I began hunting through my photos.

I didn’t come up with anything much, maybe I wasn’t searching for the correct words.

Definitely true for me!
I was tempted to hold this hand

~ CFFC – Vintage Cars ~

This week the topic for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is Cars. I’ve chosen vintage as I have found a few from the archives. They don’t make them like they used to! So much detail in vintage cars and the designs seem more elegant.

The photos below were taken at a vintage car show some years ago. I think most men (without sounding too sexist!) love a good car show, my dear hubby is obsessed with cars.

I’ve been having some fun with Canva as you can see from above and below!

My dear husband’s pride and joy above, both have been lovingly restored over the years and over 30 years old. The quotes match him exactly! – He has vintage cars and I have a vintage husband.

~ Contained in Metal ~

Something different today, I’m trying for a double dip challenge inspired by Marsha and Cee. Starting with a quote and seeing if I can link a photo!

Scotland October (Autumn)
Container Ship passing through Launceston, Tasmania
Metal Sculpture of an empty Oil Tanker – MOMA, Hobart
Metal sculpture depicting the lost children of the Holocaust,
Paris, France

A container of souls

I came across the following when researching quotes for this challenge, which really resonated with me.

It brought home to me the amount of containers I have in my house. Storage chests, cupboards, drawers and in those more boxes of treasures. Sooner or later I will have to sell, give or throwaway so many things. Just recently in the UK, my brother did one last look around the loft and came down with all of our old books and school reports and exercise books. My parents, especially my Dad could never throw anything away. There’s always that thought “this might be useful one day”.

Are you a hoarder or a thrower/giver?

Many thanks to Cee (CFFC) and Marsha (WQ) for always coming up with such interesting challenges.

💒 CFFC – Churches, Cathedrals and Temples 💒

This week Cee has chosen City structures for the fun photo challenge. Mine are churches, cathedrals and temples from around the world.

Silver Pagoda, Buddhist Temple, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York, USA

All of these structures are hundreds of years old and I often look and wonder at the sheer size of these buildings. How did builders manage without all the modern equipment we now have and just think about the fact that most of these structures are still standing.

Thanks Cee for another great challenge and the chance for me to showcase some photos from my archives.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Triangles

This week for CFFC the theme is squares and triangles. I’ve found a few triangles and possibly squares.

The Star Pyramid, Stirling Castle
Triangle sculpture, Sai Kung, Hong Kong
Concrete artificial reef block, Dunsborough, WA
Sculpture from “Sculptures by the Sea, Cottesloe, WA
Fish market, Gothenburg, Sweden

~ Most things look better when you put them in a circle ~

Another fun photo challenge from Cee, and you may have guessed from the title that she’s asking for circles and wheels.

Once again I’ve combed my archives and put together a gallery.

To finish, some jokes I found about circles!

💓 The Greatest Love of All 💓

This week for CFFC Cee has chosen the song The Greatest Love of All. Immortalised by George Benson and then again by Whitney Houston, two fantastic singers.

I have seen many wonderful posts linked back to Cee and look forward to reading a few. I chose to create a Canva video.
