This is a challenge hosted by Paula @ Lost in Translation, asking for photos to match the words she chooses every month. It’s a new one for me and I really had to look hard through my archives for photos to match these intriguing words.
Atmospheric

Emblematic

Fractured

Touristy

Typical

Thanks Paula, I had a great time with this challenge, it took a while but a wonderful way to while away the time. It brought back many good memories of times gone by.

Oh, great set – atmospheric and fractured especially, touristy is scary for the sheer numbers!
Thanks Sue, yes it’s put me off going anywhere well known
So many places are overrun now!
I’m glad you’ve discovered and joined this challenge, it’s one of my favourites! Your choices are all great matches for the words. The Ephesus one made me gulp, but Iceland is my favourite 🙂
Thanks Sarah, it’s a great challenge and I had to think about each word, looking forward to the next one. It’s a good way also to look through the archives and throw out some of the old photos
The icebergs on the shoreline is a worthy of an award. I’ve seen something like that in Alaska. I wonder how they get so close to shore because 90% of an iceberg is submerged they say.
It was an incredible sight John and I took so many photos
Every time I see Ephesus like that it makes me smile. We went there during COVID and pretty much had the place to ourselves!
Lucky you, we were on a cruise with my mum and dad and they got lost, I was standing up high to see if I could see them, my dad had a turquoise shirt on..seemed to be the colour of choice for most old men 🤣
Great effort, Ali, and some terrific photos.
Thanks Jo ☺️
You’ve nailed the challenge really well Alison, well done!
Thanks Marion 😊
well-chosen photos to match the words! Fractured and the iceberg photo resonate with me the most. I wish I could see that iceberg before it’s even more fractured and melted. May I know where in Iceland this is?
Thanks Amor, I think it was Jokularson. It was part of a five day tour we did with Icelandic Air a few years ago from the UK. Was a fabulous trip
I’m collecting a list for Iceland (and Finland and Canada) in my mind. I still find planning a trip there intimidating though. 🙂
I can imagine! They are quite far apart. I suppose the East side of Canada would be close to Iceland
Depends on how long you plan to be away
Oh hahah I meant three separate trips, but those 3 countries, for some reason, intimidate me. I’m thinking summer in Iceland, winter in Finland and summer in Canada, or summer in Alaska/Seattle. 🙂 Oh well dreaming about them is free and stress free hahah. I’ll dream for now. 🙂
Happy dreaming, you can always you tube those places, my husband spends ages watching you tube travel videos!
Hahah I probably would, Ali. 🙂
Really enjoyed your post Ali! Thank you.
Thanks so much Aggie 🙂
Great array of pictures for the words. I love the Iceland iceberg- so stunning 🙂
Thanks Meg, I had to go back a few years or more to come up with those photos 😊
What a great collection of fitting images, Ali! I would love to travel as much as you do.
Thanks Kellye, you seem to be doing well in your own country!
Thank you so much for accepting the challenge, Ali. When were you in Turkey? Did you like Ephesus? Could this be the same lagoon in Iceland as in my photo? Beautiful shots, all of them. So glad to have you join.
Thanks, maybe 2014. We took my mum and dad on a Mediterranean cruise. Had the best time with them. There were tours to suit everyone
