December in Hong Kong is always magical and this year is no exception. Every shop, hotel, bank and restaurant has a tree up, most of them real too. We have been out and about the last few days and I have been snapping away at some of the trees and decorations on offer this year.
We have also been lucky with the weather. Normally it’s quite cool adding to that Christmas feeling but this year I have been walking around in t-shirts and linen pants.
This is the hotel where we are staying for five nights, a change of district for us this year.
Hong Kong always has the most amazing lights on the sides of the buildings, these are just a few.
Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. …

believe in magic will
never find it”

What a perfect post to share the colors of red and green, Ali! Hong Kong really knows how to show off the holiday spirit! My friend is from Hong Kong and lives in the area. She takes the train into work and says it’s dazzling to see the downtown transformed every year. Enjoy the warm weather!

Thanks for your comments Terri, dazzling is certainly the right word, I can’t believe the decorations this year so ornate but fun to look at

Wow! My only experience anywhere hot near Christmas is a November visit to Singapore when many decorations were already up. I couldn’t get my head round snowmen in that heat!

It’s not hot this time of year in HK or not meant to be! Usually it’s a cool 16 or so and not much humidity

Still – no snow!

Wow Alison, thanks for sharing these, magical fun! Reminded me a bit of NYC. We don’t see anything like the big cities here on our little island.

Merry Christmas, Ali! Thank you for sending some magic across the world for us – we have nothing like this where I live! And Dahl’s quote is one of my favourites ever.

Thanks Meg, yes me too. They are from a shelter and a volunteer brought them into Central
Right on the side of a busy road. I had to step between cars to take the photo. I made sure I left a donation

Such beautiful and festive photos. I love this time of the year as Christmas waves a magic wand over this world… and everything becomes more beautiful and magical! There is a reason why many anticipate the arrival of December all year long for everything this beautiful month entails. Thanks for sharing, and have a wonderful day 🙂 Aiva xx

Beautiful decorations – the tree in your hotel is fabulous! I’m glad you’re getting warm weather 🙂 I heard the north of China is bitterly cold at the moment and the chill is heading south, but hopefully you’ll be home by then!

So festive, so bright and shiny. puts me in the holiday mood. The trees are fabulous. I have to say I love the gingerbread house. I’m not sure it is real, but oh how delicious it would smell. the Hermes quirky photo is definitely a stopper. Great marketing.
