Historical Hue – May 2018

Busy day today as firstly we visited the Imperial City which is a walled palace within the Citadel which we were told was in walking distance around 20 minutes, but as it was so hot we grabbed a taxi for the five minute drive!  When we arrived I realised how vast this place is so as they were offering shuttles around the Citadel we took one of these.  Very handy as the Vietnamese girl driving stopped at certain locations so we could hop out have a quick look around.  Some photos below of the Citadel:

Back to our hotel for a short rest and the off to the Pagoda of the Celestial Lady on a boat trip.  The Pagoda of the Celestial Lady is a historic temple in the city of Huế in Vietnam. Its iconic seven-story pagoda is regarded as the unofficial symbol of the city, and the temple has often been the subject of folk rhymes and ca dao about Huế. (Wikipedia).

Just had time for a quick swim back at the hotel before cocktails and dinner.
On balance I really enjoyed Hue with all of its interesting and historical monuments but I must say I do prefer Hoi An!  Off to Da Nang next.
