This week Cee has chosen City structures for the fun photo challenge. Mine are churches, cathedrals and temples from around the world.

All of these structures are hundreds of years old and I often look and wonder at the sheer size of these buildings. How did builders manage without all the modern equipment we now have and just think about the fact that most of these structures are still standing.
Thanks Cee for another great challenge and the chance for me to showcase some photos from my archives.
Great selection!

Super selection – a few I recognised such as Hanoi, others I’m yet to see for myself. Like you I’m always amazed at the construction and artistic skills demonstrated in these ancient buildings! One query though – the Phnom Penh one looks like the Royal Palace from what I recall. Is it a temple in the palace grounds or just built in the same style?

Thanks for your comments Sarah, I will have another look at the Phnom Penh one. I’ve probably made a mistake

Just checked and we are both correct! It’s inside the Royal Palace

Ah, I did wonder – there were so many buildings in the grounds there that it seemed likely one was a temple even if I didn’t remember it!

Liking the way youβve chosen a number of different styles. Places of worship always draw us travellers in, donβt they, regardless of our own beliefs, or absence of.

Thanks Phil, I do like a nice cathedral but out of all the photos we only went inside Ely Cathedral, that was very impressive

Wow, such beautiful structures. Next time you travel, Ali, let me know if there’s room in your suitcase. I’ve never seen any rooftops like some of the ones you’ve shared.
