Our Sunday drive this week took us to Lower Chittering, WA, where there was a classic car show. Lower Chittering forms part of the Chittering Valley and is surrounded by green rolling hills. The drive from Perth to Chittering takes around one hour and it’s not long before you are in beautiful countryside. On the way I saw sheep, horses, cows, emus and alpacas, unfortunately speeding along at 100 km/h it was too difficult to snap any shots.
The cars were set out in a huge reserve, I’m not sure if there was any order to the layout though. We met some friends there and had a walk around while I took some photos.
The owners of all the cars must be extremely dedicated judging by the before and after photos, some cars had been completely rebuilt. All were driven here, but as everywhere is so dusty they would have needed a good clean and polish after.
I added the above photo as a blast to the past as my Dad used to own a motor cycle and side car. We used to travel up to London every other week to visit my grandparents. I can’t say that it was enjoyable to me sitting so low down in the back! So many fumes did not help my travel sickness in any way.
And then!
By now it was wine time, and we needed to find a winery fast. Thinking ahead my friend Cheryl had booked us a table at Pinelli in the Swan Valley. This was not one we had tried before so we were looking forward to seeing what was on offer. We took the “scenic route” as they say due to the signal being lost on the GPS satellite. Anyway we got there with time for a tasting before lunch.
We chose two platters, the antipasto and Buongustaio. Both were good with a great variety of cheeses, seafood and meat, a bottle of Grenache for three and a glass of the Vermentina for me.
